This site asks you for nothing

It is worth saying plainly, because it decides most of this page. There is no account to create, no form to fill in, no newsletter box and no checkout. There are no cookies, no local storage, no analytics and no tracking pixels of any kind — not ours and not anyone else's. Nothing is measured about you as you read, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records the requests it answers: the IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page if there is one, and the browser's user-agent string. We use this to keep the site running and to defend it against abuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure service. It is kept for a limited period and then discarded. We do not build it into profiles, we do not link it to anyone's identity, and we never use it for marketing.

Fonts

This page asks your browser to fetch two typefaces from Google Fonts. That request goes directly from your browser to Google's servers and they receive your IP address as part of it, which we cannot prevent while the fonts are loaded this way. We use it to present the page as designed, on the basis of our legitimate interest, and we set no Google cookie. If you would rather it did not happen, blocking fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com leaves the page fully readable in a system typeface.

When you write to us

Access to the API is arranged one to one, so an enquiry starts with an email. When you write, we hold your address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message, for as long as it takes to answer you and — if we go on to work together — to run the relationship and keep the records a company is required to keep. The basis is our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry, and then the performance of a contract and our legal obligations once there is one.

We do not add an enquiry to a mailing list. We do not sell, rent or trade anyone's details, and we do not pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

Where it is held

This site, our mailboxes and our business records are held inside the European Economic Area.

The API is a separate matter. It is served at the convenience of the customer using it — capacity is placed near the people who depend on it, because that is what makes it fast and reliable, not a preference of ours. Where that puts it outside the EEA, we apply the appropriate safeguards for the transfer, and a customer taking a dedicated instance agrees the region with us and has it named in their agreement. Nothing about the API is decided on this website.

We do not publish the addresses of individual servers. Naming them tells an attacker where to aim and does nothing for you; what the law entitles you to know is whether your data leaves the EEA and what protects it if it does, and that is answered above.

Processors

We use a hosting provider to run the servers and a mail provider to carry our email. They act on our instructions under a written agreement and may not use anything they hold for their own purposes. Google receives the font request described above as a controller in its own right.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interest, and ask for it in a portable form. Write to enterprise@kairoico.com and we will answer within one month.

There is no automated decision-making and no profiling on this site.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon), or to the supervisory authority in the country where you live.
